The first week of January was a banner week for Fox News advertising, which has seen a major surge in viewership and advertisers.
On Thursday, advertisers including Starbucks, Walgreens, and the Walt Disney Company said they were adding 10 new television spots per day to their TV spots on Fox.
“We are thrilled to see the tremendous response to our new TV ads,” said Scott Tipton, senior vice president of programming for Fox.
“These ads are now the largest advertisers on FoxNews.com and they have helped us reach a significant audience.
We’re pleased to see that Fox has a proven strategy that has proven successful for FoxNews and our viewers.”
The biggest advertisers on the network are Fox News Channel, with an estimated $1.1 billion in ad spend on January 20, up from $826 million the same day last year.
The network’s lead-in on CNN has also seen an increase in ad spending.CNN’s advertising spend on Monday climbed to $3.5 billion, a 1.4 percent increase over the same week last year, according to Kantar Media/CMAG.
That’s a $100 million increase.
The network has not disclosed how much of that increase came from new ads.
Fox News has consistently been the biggest advertiser on Fox since 2011, according a study by Kantar.
Fox’s ads accounted for a whopping 67 percent of the network’s advertising revenue in 2015, the study said.
On Monday, Fox News reported the biggest week of ad spend in history, and its lead-out spots surpassed the previous record set in 2015 for the highest number of spots in one day.
The top-rated television spots, which aired across the networks most popular platforms, included a spot featuring former President Donald Trump, a commercial featuring Fox anchor Bret Baier and Fox News personalities Greta Van Susteren and Megyn Kelly, a segment of Fox’s morning show Hannity, and a commercial starring former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson.
On Friday, the network will also launch a $5 million ad campaign in Ohio and Virginia, which are swing states in 2020 presidential elections.
Fox is not the only major network that has seen advertisers pour money into Fox News during this year’s election season.
CNN, CNN.com, the Washington Post, and National Geographic, among others, have also put their ads on Fox during the election.
